Guitar amplifier is an electronic sound reinforcement used to increase the volume of sound from an electric guitar. It is connected to the electric guitar through a cable, and the sounds produced by plucking the strings of the electric guitar is fed through the amplifier, and then the speaker. This amplifies the sound pitch and volume of 4-5 times the original, allowing listeners to hear more clearly.
Guitar amplifiers come in two main varieties. One of them is the variety of combo, in which the head of the amp and guitar speakers are contained within a single unit. In other words, the head of the amplifier is placed separately and connected to the speaker cables.
Amplifiers can be of four types, based on their internal structures. These are:
- Pipe: These are the oldest types of amplifiers, and provide richer quality sound even louder in volume. These amplifiers glass tube inside. The maintenance cost of these is a great setback. The glass tubes should be cleaned regularly, and quickly replaced if they get cracked or chipped. These amplifiers fragile are also very bulky to carry.
- Solid State: These transistors are built in them instead of glass tubes. These transistors care of amplification. These amplifiers are comparatively lightweight, resistant to damage, and therefore easy to wear. The quality of sound produced is good, but can be distorted at higher volumes of sound.
- Digital: These guitar amps are probably the best post-tube based. The problem is, those with low price tags that can not be that good and make you feel the sound synthetic. However, a high price with high quality components can even beat some tube amps high end. In addition, maintenance and transportation is easy. This is often the tool of choice for today's professionals.
- Hybrid: These are the combinations of tube and solid state technologies. The sound is first amplified by transistors, and then fed into the glass tubes, resulting in the double amplification. The purchase of low prices is sometimes not advisable, as in those, the poor quality of the transistors can lead to sound distortion higher volumes. The high price products far better sound quality. However, this never against a good quality tube amplifier or a digital amplifier.
